10 weeks

Students will be introduced to simple mechanisms and explore combinations of motion. We’ll begin with orientating ourselves with the space, materials, tools, equipment, and safety required for this class. Each week we’ll focus on a new topic of mechanism to produce motion, while working towards working samples and eventually a finished “flying figure” project. This class is equally intended for the individual that has never stepped into a workshop to the seasoned maker. Techniques taught will include very basic wood-working combined with fundamental jewelry making techniques (sawing, drilling, riveting, soldering, basic forming, surface finishing).

THIS CLASS IS CLOSED

For the first class day, the class will discuss and take notes about tools, materials and projects on the first day of class. Students can expect to spend up to $30 on materials/hand tools.
