2019 ALH summer Intensive - sawyer Yards Mural Project

In the summer of 2019, the Art League Houston High School Summer Studio Art Intensive cohort worked with Houston based muralist Armando Castellan to design and create a public art project in the Arts District Houston.

Students extensively researched the First Ward and Sixth Ward neighborhoods that comprise the Arts District. They met with arts professionals and community stakeholders to have conversations about the history of the area and plans for the future.

The 2019 cohort designed and executed a mural located on the western wall of Winter Street Studios that responds the the nature of the community and expresses their hopes for the future on Houston.
