In this course, the student will be exposed to the history of contemporary, non-objective art making, specifically, in the realm of 2D painting. Through an exploration of the various potentials in this field, the student will develop a body of work influenced by the genre. All facets of creating a painting will be addressed—from the deliberation of the form, to the wrapping of the surface, to the application of pigment and finish. Due to time constraints, it is suggested that the student work in acrylic media. However, various strategies and methodologies will be entertained.
