During this course students will learn how to use the same tools professional artists use while drawing. The basics of composition, negative and positive space, contour lines, value, foreshortening, and working from the model will be practiced in class. This course will focus on developing hand-eye coordination while learning a variety of techniques for greater flexibility. Pencil, charcoal, and ink will primarily be used. Each class is a building block where students will have the opportunity to experiment with new methods of mark-making as their drawing skills advance. Homework will be assigned at the end of each class to help students reinforce their learning into actual practice. If you have never drawn before or would like to brush up on your drawing skills, this is the perfect class for you!
