Nearly 400 guests gathered on Friday, October 14 at POST Houston for Art League Houston’s 74th Annual Gala: LUMINARIES to honor Letitia Huckaby as the 2022 Texas Artist of the Year, Earlie Hudnall, Jr. as the recipient of the biennial 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award in the Visual Arts,
and Melanie Lawson and John Guess, Jr. as the 2022 Texas Patrons of the Year
Co-chaired by Joi Maria & Matt Probus and Seba Raquel Suber, this year's gala was a lively affair and raised over $250,000 in support of ALH's mission to connect the community through diverse, dynamic, and creative experiences that bring people together to see, make and talk about contemporary art.
Hosted by Houston’s Poet Laureate, Outspoken Bean, guests enjoyed a spirited art auction with works by local, national, and internationally recognized artists, as well as ALH's live annual award ceremony honoring some of the brightest lights in Texas arts and arts philanthropy, a digital art experience by Input/Output, and music by DJ Flash Gordon Parks.
Stimulating and sustaining the visual arts in Houston since 1948, the night raised critical funds for Art League Houston’s community engagement, exhibition, and public art programs. Art League Houston serves as a creative hub for artists and the broader community to cultivate ideas, foster creativity, imagination, and empathy, and impact social change through the arts. Your support helps ALH secure nearly one-third of its operating budget, allowing us to continue offering groundbreaking exhibitions and public art, artist talks, studio classes, free public events, arts education initiatives, and targeted outreach to the city’s undersupported communities.
