In this class, we will be learning what archive building looks like and how it can “transfer” to artmaking. We will learn from the greats like Romare Bearden, Zora Neale Hurston and Saidaya Hartman on how they use images and bias archives to tell an improved and more historically accurate story.
We will learn image transfer processes like cyanotype and matte medium transfers, compiling those techniques to create a zine. We will use the images and text found in our research and in our processes.
How do you want to create a new reality for the people or situation you're uplifting?
