Transform a personal photograph into a hand carved linocut print. In this workshop, you will learn how to prepare your photo image file using Photoshop, transfer a laser print to a linoleum block, carve your image, and print an edition of your photograph using an etching press. Relief printing is made when you take the negative space out of a block and the positive space that remains is what is printed. Newspapers use different halftone effects to translate midtones in an image using only binary printing areas (black and white). Using this same technique, you will carve an image that will share both digital and hand-made qualities. Adobe Photoshop required.
