In this workshop, students will create a quilt block using a simple design that they will illustrate themselves, following the theme of "ways to enjoy oneself". We will begin with a brainstorming session and a sketch of our idea, then I will provide students with fabrics and show them how to create a quilt block following the design on their illustration. Students should have basic drawing skills for this workshop so that they can create their illustration, but they will learn the necessary sewing skills to create the quilt block. Students will leave this workshop with a handmade quilt block!

In this class you will learn the fundamentals of working with ink, including brush handling, ink dilution, line quality and composition. Through guided exercises and tutorials we will explore traditional techniques as well as innovative ink play methods focusing on observation, body movement, relaxation and flow. We will explore a variety of themes; history, symbolism and philosophy of the subject matter to create a beautiful composition that is filled with expression. No prior experience is required-just curiosity and willingness to experiment. All levels are welcome.
