Intro to Paper Marbling is a seven week course for beginners covering the basic techniques, tools, and practical uses concerning the art of paper marbling. Students will learn about the various materials used to marble paper, a variety of techniques and types of patterns, as well as some of the practical uses for their finished work. By the end of the course, students should be able to complete the marbling process on their own from start to finish and have a basic understanding of materials, techniques, patterns, and uses.

Oil pastel is a relatively new medium dated from the early 20th century. It is a very versatile and dynamic material that combines drawing and painting properties. An easy to control, very flexible to mix with medium, oil pastels are ideal for working on any surface. Over the course of 4 weeks, students will discover exciting techniques and they will learn to combine oil pastels with other mediums such as acrylic, watercolor and ink. This class also covers a variety of exercises to guide students to create effective compositions following the elements and principles of art. Some assignments are inspired by impressionist and postimpressionist artists' approaches to painting. This class is a great fit for anyone looking to transition from drawing to painting or experienced artists looking to learn about the endless applications of oil pastels. All levels are welcome. Please note: some tools and materials will be provided by the instructor.

In this class you will learn the fundamentals of working with ink, including brush handling, ink dilution, line quality and composition. Through guided exercises and tutorials we will explore traditional techniques as well as innovative ink play methods focusing on observation, body movement, relaxation and flow. We will explore a variety of themes; history, symbolism and philosophy of the subject matter to create a beautiful composition that is filled with expression. No prior experience is required- just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. All levels are welcome.
