This workshop will introduce students to the basics of quilting, offering a survey of the different types and methods of quilting and basic vocabulary. Together we will plan, design, and finish a quilt square using sewing machines provided by ALH to be made into either a wall hanging or a potholder. The finished quilt square will be between 7-12 inches. There will be fabric scraps provided but students may bring their own materials if they choose. We will cover how to read pattern instructions, layout and design, machine piecing and quilting, binding, and alternate uses or displays. This workshop is open to all levels-- for anyone new to sewing, the artist interested in learning a new medium, or the home quilter looking for new project inspiration.
